Why Pinterest Is Worth Your Time
Here’s what most affiliates miss about Pinterest: it doesn’t behave like a social platform. It behaves like a search engine.
That distinction matters more than almost anything else about the platform. On a normal social feed, your post has a shelf life measured in hours. You post, it gets seen, it dies. On Pinterest, a pin you put up today can still be sending people to your affiliate links months from now, because people are actively searching for exactly the kind of thing you pinned.
For an Amazon affiliate, that’s a fundamentally different value proposition. You’re not renting attention for an afternoon. You’re building something that compounds.
The Part That Always Killed It
So if Pinterest is that good, why isn’t everybody doing it? Because the workflow is brutal.
For every single pin you want to publish, you have to:
- Find or create an image that actually looks like a Pinterest pin, not a product photo
- Write a title that people might actually search for
- Write a description with real keywords in it
- Size the whole thing correctly for the platform
- Grab your affiliate link and paste it in the right field
That’s maybe ten minutes if you’re fast and you’ve done it before. Now multiply that by fifty products. That’s most of a workday, and it’s the least interesting workday you’ll have all week.

If you’re brand new to the Amazon influencer program and you’re still working on your first handful of videos, this is not your priority. Go make videos. Come back to traffic diversification later. I say that constantly and I mean it here too.
But if you’ve got a storefront with real content on it, if you’ve got idea lists built out, and you’ve been meaning to get on Pinterest for a year and never had the time — this removes the reason you never started. You already did the hard part. This is just distribution.
