If you do Trybe, you probably want to know what brands do with your videos once they start running them as ads. Where are they sending people? Is it a real website? Are they using your video ID so you get the right attribution? Here are the two ways I check this myself.

In this article

Step 1: Find Your Video ID

Every time you upload a video to the platform, it assigns a long, crazy-looking ID. That ID is what ends up on your video when a brand uses it for ads, and it is how the platform matches the ad to you and your video.

On desktop, find one of your videos and inspect the join link. You will see a big ID near the end of the link. Note the last characters of it, because that is the part to watch for when you check a brand’s ad destination.

Method 1: Check Through Instagram

  • Open Instagram and go to your profile dashboard.
  • Tap monetization, then brand partnerships.
  • Under manage ad permissions, open current ad partners to see everyone you are partnered with.
  • Click into a partner to see the list of your videos, then choose view ad.
  • Look at the destination and confirm the attribution is set up correctly.

The Instagram method is the easiest of the two.

Method 2: Use the Meta Ad Library

The second way is the Meta Ad Library. Search for the brand, click the ads button, and find your ad. Then click see ad details to pull up the whole thing and click through to the destination.

If the link points to a real website and carries your video ID, the brand is giving the attribution to whichever video it belongs to. That is exactly what you are looking for.

What This Does Not Tell You

Even with correct attribution on the link, the brand still has to report sales back through Meta to the platform so your earnings count it. A brand can have the link set up right and still not report correctly if the tracking is not configured on their side. That part is out of your hands.

What you can do is keep track of where ads point once they start running and whether your video attribution is on them. For creators running multiple affiliate channels, Oink for Influencers helps you find products worth making videos about in the first place.
