A viewer asked me for an Amazon Influencer storefront audit about four months ago, so I finally sat down and did it. I run every audit with a tool I built that checks your last 50 videos and tells me what your product selection strategy really looks like. This one had some of the best numbers I’ve seen, so here’s what a strong storefront looks like and the one thing I’d still tweak.

In this article:

Product Selection: What Great Numbers Look Like

About 76% of this creator’s videos featured a Creator Connections campaign. I’d like to see closer to 80%, but that’s higher than most people. Average product price looked good, monthly sales on the products were strong, and 83% of the products had a sales history. Usually I spend several minutes on red flags in this section. Here I had basically no notes, because the selection was clearly intentional. If you’re deliberately targeting products that match that profile, keep doing exactly that.

Connect With the Buyer in the First Seconds

Once the product is right, the question is whether the video converts. My first rule: the moment the video starts, tell the viewer “I know why you’re here.” If you’re reviewing a vacuum, say it out loud: does it actually suck, and is it worth your money? For a toaster, will it burn your bread? For clothing, does it fit and is it comfortable? You are meeting the buyer at the door they just walked through.

Openers like “there are so many different oils of oregano” add nothing, because the buyer already knows that. What they want to know is whether it works, what’s in it, and what you think. That was the one note I had here: a couple of intros started with the product description instead of the buyer’s questions.

Show the Product Doing Its Job

My second rule is to demonstrate the product doing the thing it was designed to do. This creator nailed it. In the dog shampoo video, they actually gave the dog a bath, where plenty of people would have just talked about the bottle. Combine strong demos with a good on-camera delivery and thorough explanations, and you have a storefront that’s working.
